Justin takes a ride on California Screamin'

In my humble opinion, this has got to be the funniest video I've ever posted on my blog...and I didn't even have to edit it!
This is Justin's first time going on California Screamin', a fast roller coaster at Disney's California Adventure.  (The coaster is in the following picture behind the Mickey Mouse ferris wheel!)

Watch his face change from anticipation to suspense to delight to pure joy to fear and back again!  If you don't understand what he says in the middle of the ride, he says "that tickled in my belly."  And if you see where his eyes roll up, that is right when he goes upside down through the loop.
After the ride, we asked if he was scared, but he claims it wasn't the least bit scary.   You might just want to click on the bottom right corner of the video to enlarge it to full screen, it's that funny!

Playing catch-up!

Am slowly but surely getting around to making videos again, and thus far I've made it within 8 months of current....yikes!

So here goes:
Last August we took a trip to a family park called Namskogan Family Park....it is the meshing of both a zoo and activity park.  They had tons of animals including moose, wolves, lynx, bears, wild boars, and more, as you will see.  The park is set up around a small lake, with all of the acitivities surrounding it, including small electric tractors, trampoline jumping, a ropes course, gold-panning, bumper boats, and a super fun gravity-only roller coaster which was pulled to the top of the hill by a t-bar ski lift.  Boys had a blast, and so did we!

Also in August, Einar got called out to a huge fire at a sawdust factory in Sweden.  There were 5 helicopters working the fire, and they were supported by numerous fire trucks on the ground.  Just thought you'd like to see one of the various jobs that Einar does, as well as what the view looks like sometimes ffrom his office in the sky!

At the end of September we went on our annual diving trip weekend together with Einar's scuba club.  The kids (and I) are always fascinated by all of the creatures they manage to pull up from the sea to share with us, but this year I was especially fascinated by the gorgeous 12-armed sunburst starfish. (I have no idea what kind of starfish is actually is, but I named it a sunburst! haha) You'll see it at the end of the video.

And last, and definitely least, is a video I made of the kids building volcanoes.  I had played it out in my mind, how cool of a mom I was going to be, the kids would just think it was wild and crazy, and it was quite anticlimatic, but I thought I'd show it to you anyway, haha!

Season opener at Frosta golf club

I somehow missed posting this video along with the others. This was from one of the first rounds of the  golf season in June.
There were two players and four caddies!

Almost a par!

Flashback to September...
Collin and I had a day alone together on the course.  Collin is doing really well for not having ever had any lessons!  Here's a really short clip of his near-par on hole #2...

Viken Family Camping Trip - June 2011

Einar has taken Collin on a father-son camping/canoeing trip the past few years, and now that Justin is old enough to go without tipping the canoe, we decided that all of us would go!  The first weekend in June, we packed our tents and sleeping bags and headed a few hours east, up to an area with numerous lakes connected by rivers.  I still can't believe we got all of our gear + 4 people into one canoe, chalk it up to Einar's space-awareness-good-packing skills.

We paddled over one small lake, and then walked the canoe from the shore up one river, before crossing another lake, walking up another river, and then to our destination lake.  The sun was a-shinin' and things were looking up.  Fishing poles and hopes of fish dinners were brought along, (however, we were fortunate to have brought reserve dinners, which we much needed, since we didn't even get a nibble all weekend.)
Kids were fishing until almost 11pm when we turned in for the night.  Saturday morning was spent hanging out and making breakfast, and then paddling up another river and exploring another lake.
Saturday night I realized something....and I then said to Einar: "Do you remember when I said I liked to go camping?...Well,  I said that when I lived in California."  Let me remind you it was June.  Yes, June.  Otherwise known as SUMMER in most parts of the northern hemisphere.  But Saturday night while trying to sleep, the temps dipped down to 20 degrees.  Fahrenheit, that is.    Yikes!   And it rained and rained and rained and rained.  And did I mention that it rained??

Here's a fun video from the happy memories from the weekend.  :)  And be impressed--be very impressed with Einar's woodsman skillz !!

Justin turns 5

Flashback to summer....June 6, 2011
Justin waits anxiously for his birthday guests to arrive, and does a little dancing to help pass the time --

Bowling Fun

June 2011
Justin filled up his sticker chart for good behavior, and got to go bowling.  Collin and Markus joined him on the lanes!

A Very Viken Easter

APRIL 2011--EASTER

As usual, we jammed all 11 of us into our 400 sq ft cabin in Tydal, about 2 hours East of where we live.  (Towards Sweden.)  This was absolutely the warmest weather we've ever had during Easter.  We stayed outside from sun up to sun down (about 12 hours of daylight this time of year), ate outside, played cards outside, just plain stayed outside.  And if you recall Easters of past, Amy had always been dying to get out of the awful weather and back into the cabin...not this time!!
With Easter being super late this year, the snow was slushy and "rotten".  Kudos to Justin for doing his best without any good tracks to ski in.
Here's a little peek at our week in Tydal.

While planning our upcoming vacation, I've spent a lot of time on Trip Advisor and thought I'd put my map on here. :)

Happy 4th of July!

I heard on the news last night that there are 25,000 Americans living in Norway.
Whoddathunk?

Happy 4th of July, wherever in the world you might be celebrating!
